PAINKILLER (2024)

A co-production of Amazon Prime and the National Film & Television School

Hakeem, a father struggles to control his emotions after an encounter with the police.

He searches for a solution allowing him to be a good role model for his teenage son.

“PAINKILLER” was based on a script I wrote during 2020, which was put through its paces as part of a series of workshops at the NFTS.

I’d describe the film as a father-son relationship story, masquerading as a near future psychological drama.

We shot the film during November 2023.

The film stars Martins Imhangbe as “Hakeem” and newcomer Oliver Banton Forbes as “Tyrone”.

The film will premiere in May 2024.

I was one of six directors selected to take part in the 2023 “Prime Directors Programme”; a collaboration between Amazon Prime and the National Film and Television School.

The initiative gives up and coming directors the opportunity to make a short film with the support of the UK’s premier film school and one of the world’s largest entertainment companies.
